OSINT applied a German Research Performing Organisation (RPO) and a Higher Education Institution (HEI)

The Fraunhofer Cyber Security Learning Lab at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences carried out an Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) analysis of a German research institution and a university on behalf of the DLR Projektträger. The analysis was carried out in consultation with the two institutions..

As part of the OSINT analysis, publicly available information about the institutions, their employees and technical infrastructure that could potentially be misused by attackers was collected.

The results were discussed with the two investigated institutions and recorded in an anonymised study. The full version of the study is not publicly accessible. The summary available here serves to raise the awareness of research institutions and universities for possible security gaps and risk-reducing measures.
