Note on Goethe University Frankfurt: Our publication analysed the old internationalisation strategy. At the end of April 2025, however, the university published a new strategy that also lists concrete measures, including measures related to research security.

Annotated collection of internationalisation strategies of German universities – a proposal for the realignment of strategic planning (in German)
Geopolitical tensions call for a responsible approach to internationalisation that carefully considers security aspects, economic interests, and social concerns. To address this, the DLR Projektträger has compiled and analysed 19 current strategy documents and developed a framework that integrates key elements such as mission statements, goals, strategic fields of action, governance, and monitoring with a focus on responsibility and resilience in international cooperation. The document is designed to guide the realignment of the internationalisation strategies at German and European universities.
